Bio

Lachlan Mackee is an emerging ceramic artist working from a private
studio based in Cairns, Regional Queensland. For the past 14 years,
Lachlan worked in the Queensland Police as a child abuse investigator.
In 2021 he was gifted wheel-throwing lessons and immediately bonded
with clay. The meditative state reached while throwing on the wheel,
the grounded connection to the earth and artistic expression of a solid
material turned fluid are what fuels his creative exploration. In 2023 he
established Service Ceramics with a focus on creating utilitarian
tableware and vessels heavily inspired by Japanese & Indian ceramics.
Lachlan believes every object should be functional at its core and
express the humanity of maker, material & user.
